24th Annual San Francisco Butterfly Count

June 16, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

It’s time for folks to mark their calendars for the 24th Annual San Francisco Butterfly Count. An intense, one-day inventory of all the butterfly species / individuals flying in our county and beyond – a historic year for this count as San Bruno Mountain will be officially absorbed into the circle.  We will begin at the Randall Museum (199 Museum Way) before heading out with assigned groups. Each group will have a copy of Nature in the City’s Butterflies of San Francisco  Field Guide by Liam O’Brien to make it easier on the novice. BRING YOUR LUNCH. It’s really a magnificent day ( if June Gloom stays away…) for folks to help with field work. A $3.00 participation fee is collected by all that goes to butterfly conservation.

If you’d like to join the McLaren Park group: contact Amber Hasselbring: [email protected]

If you’d like to join the Presidio Park group: contact Jonathan Young: [email protected]

All groups will meet up @5:30 at Pasquale’s Pizza ( 700 Irving St. at 8th in Inner Sunset ) to compile data, eat pizza, drink beer and be…complete Butterfly Nerds!

Any questions? Liam O’Brien — [email protected] .

The count is sponsored by The North American Butterfly Association.
