The Sea Ranch: Architecture, Environment, and Idealism at SF MoMA
January 17 - April 28
Enthusiasts of 1960s design and architecture won’t want to miss The Sea Ranch: Architecture,
Environment, and Idealism at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The Sea Ranch, a
private community on Highway 1 south of Gualala, was designed in the 1960s as a reaction
against suburban sprawl. Buildings were intended to blend in with the landscape and have
limited impact on the environment. The exhibition, open through April 28, charts the rise, legacy,
and future of the community.
