Geology Talk & Walk – Gilroy Hot Springs
June 15, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Do you like Rocks? Faults? Hot Springs? You are in luck. We’ll be offering geology tours all day long as part of the Gilroy Yamato Hot Springs (GYHS) annual open house. Check out huge serpentine outcrops along a fault. Learn how springs can form. See ancient manzanitas thriving in this environment. Kid-friendly activities included.
Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the event. Geology tours leave on-the-hour from 10am – 3pm. Admission for the Open House is $15 per person; under 12 admitted free. On-site parking is included. Proceeds benefit GYHS efforts to preserve, protect, and restore public access to this historical site.
For more info, see the GYHS facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GilroyHotSpringsAssociationgyhsa/posts/2487031251307037
Cautions: The Meetup trip leaders are volunteers willing to share their experience in a social hiking environment. Hiking risks include ticks, poison oak, rattlesnakes, and uneven trail surfaces. Each participant is responsible for evaluating their own hiking skills and stamina to determine if this hike is suitable for them to participate.
