Stroll to the end of Hunting Hollow
November 12, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join Coe Volunteers on this fairly easy 6.6 mile guided hike. This is one of the flattest trails in Coe, just 300 ft elevation gain. We will walk along the valley, following an old ranch road.
Detail: Starting at the Hunting Hollow entrance, follow the dirt road, (Hunting Hollow Road), for 3.3 miles to the end where it turns steeply uphill onto Wagon Road. This is where we’ll take a break at the Doe Spring picnic table. Return the same way, with optional stops at Gibson and Fish ponds. We cross the creek multiple times but it is usually still dry this time of year, or easy to cross rock-to-rock.
What to bring: A snack/lunch, a hat, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, clothing in layers, rain jacket, water. Optional: hiking poles for balance at creek crossings.
Heavy rain cancels, so check the night before.
Cautions: The Meetup trip leaders and guides are volunteers willing to share their experience in a social hiking environment. Hiking risks include ticks, poison oak, and uneven trail surfaces. Each participant is responsible for evaluating their own hiking skills and stamina to determine if this hike is suitable for them to participate.
Dogs: Sorry, only service dogs are allowed in state parks.
Driving Directions: Meet at the Hunting Hollow entrance on Gilroy Hot Springs road.
