Youth Conversations on Race and Social Justice 2019

SURJ South County (Showing Up For Racial Justice) is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Youth Conversations on Race & Social Justice Conference, Saturday, September 21, 2019, 10 a.m. to 3 pm. 

Workshops and speakers will explore such timely topics as: Implicit bias, understanding white privilege, de-escalation techniques, youth justice, writing about identity, multigenerational influences and more!

We offer this conference FREE to youth ages 12-19 to teach our youth the skills they need to create and thrive in a society that treats all people equally. Lunch provided. Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions. 

This year’s workshops will include educator Mas Hashimoto, who was interned with his family in the Japanese internment camps, as well as Zahra Billoo, from CAIR – San Francisco Bay Area, Javier Diaz, of Community Agency for Resources, Advocacy and Services, Peter Parris, of SURJ at Sacred Heart and Tuyen Fiak, of Silicon Valley FACES.
