This is a simple CONDITIONING hike. Hiking Route: Up Guidotti (225m) to Skyline. Right on Skyline to Oil Well to Three Sisters junction. At the junction we will need to decide whether to turn back or ford the creek. We will have 3 miles to walk, if we turn around, and 2 miles, if we ford the creek. Join Andy Werner on this ±8 mile Nisene Marks hike with ±700 feet elevation gain. Our path takes us through a lovely mostly redwood forest where we’ll see a variety of ferns and possibly a few flowers. We will also hike alongside two beautiful creeks and eventually to serene Maple Falls. The trail into Maple Falls requires agility but when we get there, we’ll relax for lunch. This is a 9.3 miles out and back hike with a 2040 ft. elevation gain. We will take the Moses Spring trail up to the Reservoir. There we will take a short break. From the reservoir we will take the Chalone Peak Trail towards North Chalone Peak. There is no water available on this hike except at Bear Gulch. This is a lovely shaded in-and-out hike along the Big Sur River on the Bobcat Trail. We’ll see meadows, gorgeous sycamores, spectacular redwood trees and have plenty of opportunities to admire the Big Sur River. Don't let the word 'race' deter you; this is all about participation and enjoyment.There are a variety of distances to choose from, the shortest being 14 miles. The cut off time is 9 hours; a very generous time period for this distance.
