Binocular Stargazing is hosted by the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority with help from members of the San Jose Astronomical Association. Want to learn the night sky? Want to see the Milky Way and the stars contained in it? Did you know that you don’t need to spend a ton of money on a telescope to do so? All you need is a decent pair of binoculars. Anza Expedition History Hike

Join the Open Space Authority and National Parks for a history walk along the Arrowhead trail in Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve. As you hike this 4 mile trail, you will learn all about the Anza expedition and the experience of those families. Please bring your own water and a snack for the trail. This hike is a bit over 4 miles an has about 500 feet of elevation gain.

The San Jose Astronomical Association and the Open Space Authority invites the public to bring a pair of binoculars to learn how to find interesting features in the night sky. Attendees are advised to dress warmly and remember to bring drinking water. Pets, telescopes and deep space photography are not permitted at this free event. Raptor Biologist Ryan Phillps will present a morning of birding focused on raptors at Regal Eagles–A Raptor Adventure. Coyote Valley is a renowned spot for migrating, wintering and breeding raptors and one of the last wildlife linkages between the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Diablo Range.
