Rock for a Reason showcases film music
This year the theme of Rock for a Reason is “A Night at the Movies,” showcasing a lineup of movie-based songs. Films including “Footloose” and “Mamma Mia” will be featured and performances will incorporate something from each movie throughout the program. Phillips anticipates the concert will be a lot of fun and a great entertainment value, and hinted that a Grammy award-winning musician will be joining the students for the performance. “We wanted to create a concert where we could blend young students with professional musicians, says Phillips. “Give them that experience.”
The 2017 Rock for a Reason concert will benefit the Morgan Hill Community Foundation and its work with the Morgan Hill Peace Project. Refreshments will be available for purchase, and a silent auction will present items and packages that have been donated by local businesses including Gilroy Gardens, La Quinta Inn, and Cinelux Theaters. Phillips described gratitude toward all of the event sponsors and noted that admission to the event is free, “It is also important to give back to the local community that has been so supportive of us.”
