Gavilan showing off student films

"Forgotten World," produced by the student company Giggly Dickens, will be one of the many films showcased on April 26.

The Gavilan College Film, Television, and Electronic Media Department is holding its second annual Film Showcase on Friday, April 26 at 7pm in the Gavilan Theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. in Gilroy. 

The showcase will feature the best Gavilan student short films of the year, which feature numerous local and professional actors. 

The event is free, and all are welcome. Grant Richards and Tim Ahlin, the two film and TV instructors at Gavilan, will be hosting the event.  

After the screening of the more than 20 films, there will be an awards ceremony. The awards, called “the Gavys,” include the following: Best Production Company, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Film Editor.
