Downtown staple offers a holiday treat

ALL TYPES Garbo’s offers great selections of china, crystal, original paintings, hard-to-find pottery, and vintage stoneware.

The holiday season is filled with excitement, festivities and food, but in the midst of it all looms the age-old question: Where to find that perfect gift?

With a variety of local stores, offering unique and specialized items, this holiday season can be not only stress-free but fun.
David Doshack, co-owner of Garbo’s Antique Mall, a 16-dealer co-op and a staple in downtown Gilroy since 1992, suggests that this holiday season people bypass the crowds.
“We offer a really large array of merchandise they’re never going to find at the outlets,” Doshack said.
With prices ranging from $3 to $500, there is something for everyone’s budget.
“Even kids can come in and find comic books for a dollar,” Doshack said.
Garbo’s continually changing inventory includes great selections of china, quality crystal, original oil paintings, hard-to-find studio pottery dating back to the 1930s, vintage stoneware and more.
“We also have a collection of Snoopy and Peanuts characters, and we have a large collection of Walt Disney that dates back to the ’30s,” Doshack said.
Doshack boasts that Garbo’s offers, “really good gift items,” in addition to giving customers the option of layaway.
“People can spread the money out better and still get the items they want,” he said
Garbo’s, 7565 Monterey St, Gilroy. Open Monday through Friday,11am-6pm, Saturday, 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-5:30pm.
