Waking up Christmas morning to see a shiny new bike under the tree is a kid’s dream come true.

One-year old South Valley shop Bike Therapy of Morgan Hills offers a wide range of bikes to choose from for all budgets. Owner Doug Hall wants to encourage anyone and everyone to get started riding.

“We are all about getting more butts on bikes,” says Hall.

Besides offering a full service bike shop, selling, servicing and offering bike fit services, Hall says Bike Therapy provides many opportunities to get riders on the road together.

“Bike Therapy helped organize Morgan Hill Bike Party,” he says. “We have weekly road and mountain bike rides and [monthly] womens’ rides.”

Parents interested in surprising their child with a bike for the holidays only need their child’s height, age and favorite color to find the perfect bike. For toddlers, Hall recommends balance bikes, a pedalless solution for toddlers, which offer more stability than conventional pedal bikes.

“These get kids as young as 17 months onto two wheels, learning to balance before they learn to pedal,” says Hall. “Most of the time, kids end up skipping training wheels all together.”

Laura Doughty, a seasoned sales associate who rides sweep for the women’s ride recommends personalizing bikes with fun items that include colorful bells, spoke lights, and colorful grips. “Gloves, knee pads, helmets with magnetic clasps and sunglasses make great stocking stuffers,” says Doughty.

Adults can enjoy the same thrill shopping at Bike Therapy, which offers e-bikes, road, mountain, commuter, racing and kids bikes. Top brands include Specialized, Santa Cruz, Electra, Salsa, MOOTS, Subrosa and ibis.

Morgan Hill’s only full-service certified repair shop also offers demo bike rentals, all weather clothing, safety gear, weekly group rides, classes and even financing. For as low as $100, customers can demo e-bike, road and mountain bikes before committing to a purchase.

Hall offers a trade in programs for adults based on Bicycle Blue Book value. Trade Up programs are available for kid bikes purchased within two years from Bike Therapy. Purchased bikes can stored until the holidays.

Hall and his knowledgeable staff created a vibrant culture of bike enthusiasts. The website’s online event calendar makes it easy to navigate and plan ahead for weekly road and mountain bike rides, and womens’ rides.

Hall created a winning formula: great bike selection for every need and budget; a knowledgeable team whose passion and love for the sport is infectious; has cultivated a bike culture packed with weekly classes, group rides and special events and a social environment with bars and restaurants in the same courtyard where riders can unwind and mingle after a ride.
