Cooking with a Michelin star

FOOD AND WINE Chef Suzette Gresham will present a virtual class on how to make Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi with Truffle. Submitted photo

You may not be able to book a table at one of San Francisco’s famed eateries, but Carolyn and John Aver are making it possible for you to take cooking lessons from the renowned chef at one of them, right in your own home.

On Sunday, May 3, at 4pm, the public is invited to cook along with Chef Suzette Gresham of Michelin Two Star Acquerello, to whip up Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi with Truffle, a dish that pairs with Aver Family’s “Reverence” Chardonnay. Truffle Shuffle, which Carolyn met at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, will package and deliver all of the necessary ingredients to make two generous portions. Kits cost $55, and supplies will be personally delivered to Bay Area residents or shipped overnight to out-of-area participants. Participants must register by Wednesday, April 29. Wine can be purchased separately.

The Avers will donate $5 of each class to help feed the staff at UCSF Highland Hospital. Some proceeds will help Chef Suzette’s staff at Acquerello maintain their health insurance during the shutdown.

Special wine pricing includes 2017 Estate Merlot ($35, now $20), Rose ($24, now $15) and Sophie’s ($33, now $15). Purchase mixed cases at 35 percent off; six bottles for 25 percent off.

Sarah’s Vineyard is offering two specially priced six-packs, from $150 to $220, plus member discounts, with a $5 shipping fee.
