Realtor’s Corner: Dave Clink
Dave Clink of RE/MAX Realty, Morgan Hill
There are a lot of bright spots in the market right now. For sellers, the lack of inventory is continuing to drive prices higher and there are multiple offers on many properties. This trend should continue throughout the year. Things are tougher for buyers in this market as there are not as many homes to choose from and there is a lot of competition. The bright spot for buyers is that interest rates remain very low and there are many great lending programs available to first-time buyers.
What do you enjoy most about being a Realtor?
The thing I love the most about being a Realtor is being able to provide service in our community. There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping a family find the perfect home for them and knowing that they will get the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful community that I am proud to call home.
What areas do you concentrate in?
I work throughout the Bay Area but mainly focus on the South County areas of Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy. I was born and raised in the South County and really enjoy working in this area.
What was your most interesting sale in the last 12 months?
My most interesting sale in the last 12 months involved two brothers who lived out of the area and had inherited some properties in Gilroy. It turned out that one of the homes was right down the street from where my grandparents had lived and their family had known my family years ago. It brought back a lot of great memories and although our area has grown, it still can still have that small-town feel.
What was your biggest train wreck?
What stands out as the biggest train wreck happened when I was selling some new homes for a builder. There were some delays during the course of construction and a few families ended up not being able to move in for several weeks and this was over the holidays. Needless to say it was not easy having to tell these families they would be in an extended stay hotel for Christmas.
What was your most unusual transaction?
One thing I love about my job is that no transactions are ever the same. One of the most unusual I dealt with was representing a professional athlete in Morgan Hill who was traded and wanted to sell his home immediately. Dealing with the logistics and emotions of that situation was quite unique.
